I jogged a mile Friday morning before we left for our trip. I wanted to run farther before being trapped in a car for 24 hours but I ran out of time. It was better than nothing though! We tried to drive through the night but I couldn’t fall asleep easily in the car and my husband and I both got tired at the same time so we stopped at about 1:30am. It wasn’t ideal but it was better than driving tired. I was able to log a couple of miles before we got back on the road yesterday morning. One of my older boys wanted to hike at sunrise this morning so he could take some pictures. Photography is one of his many hobbies and I am always up for a good hike. We missed the sunrise but we still had a fantastic hike. We hiked Black Mountain in Cave Creek, which is near where we used to live. The hike is about a mile to the summit and a little over 1,000 feet of elevation gain. It is a tough hike. He got some amazing pictures though and it was great to spend that time together. I got this image from my old school cell phone:
Since we didn’t spend any time running on our hike, I still had to run at some point today to keep the streak alive. I ran on the treadmill at the hotel since it is about 104 degrees outside today. Tomorrow, I should be able to get a run in at sunrise so I will have a much more enjoyable run. The hike was totally worth it this morning though!
