Jingle jog

Today my husband and I joined a small group of runners at our local Y for a Jingle Jog.  I wasn’t sure what to expect going into it and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to run hard or not.  I made the decision before we left that I wanted to take it slow and just enjoy the morning. The weather outside was questionable and the group was likely smaller because of it.  There were maybe 10 or 15 participants and it was certainly set up more like a running group than a race.  I’m glad I hadn’t gotten in the head space to run hard or I might have been disappointed.  It was a good group of people and I had a great time running with my husband.  It was freezing rain while we ran though and I reflected on how many times lately that I have told myself that I will remember to wear a hat with a bill next time there is winter precipitation outside.  I always remember when it is raining and it is warm out.  That is probably because I usually wear a hat with a bill when it is sunny too so I just wear it more often.  I even had the hat in the car but I didn’t think about it until we were about a half mile out and ice was pelting my eyes.  Maybe I’ll remember next time!  After the race, the Y had some snacks and warm drinks.  My son was pretty pumped about that.  I did hear a few ladies discussing running streaks.  One woman said that her next goal was a year, which is awesome, and I was super excited to hear local runners talk about streaking!  I wanted to somehow insert myself into the conversation but I’m not great at those types of things.  I will make a mental note to bring it up with them if they are there at the next group run though!
